Dean Ackerman

Dean has 33 years of experience in the mining industry.

The first 10 years being at Boart Longyear, a division of Anglo American. Here he was primarily involved in design of under-ground rock drilling equipment, ranging from hydraulic percussion drills, to twin boom face drilling drill rigs.

For the following 21 years, experience has been with DeBeers in the area of mining research. He has extensive experience in the area of experimental research into novel designs of marine mining tools and methods, for the extraction of diamondiferous gravels from the sea bed.

Along with this he has gathered extensive experience in the design and optimisation of particulate extraction machinery (identifying and extracting diamonds from bulk mined ore, in process plant). The primary skill developed in this time is the generation of novel concepts, and the fundamental research and development thereof. The specific field of application being the extraction of high value particles from run of mine material feed.

The past 2 years have been focused on the research and development of eco friendly technology for the extraction of gold and other precious metals from alluvial deposits.
